Enjoy White Wine Without Wrecking Your Diet

Most of the 80 calories in a glass of sweet white wine came from alcohol. But a Chardonnay only contains around 60 calories. If you are looking for a white wine that will not wreck your diet, then it is best to choose a low alcohol, drier white wine.

The fact is, white wine is just a mixture of alcohol, flavoring, and water. The grape juice that the wine starts off as is oxidized by the yeast added in the wine making process and the sugar is converted into alcohol and carbon dioxide. That's why people on a diet should only drink white wine that's low on alcohol.

That said, both red and white wine have a positive effect on the digestive system in moderation. It will probably benefit you to drink one glass of wine with your meal.

Choosing Your White Wine

You can select a wine that's affordable and commonly available once you've made your decision that you prefer white wine and willing to monitor your usage as part of your weight control program. There are tons of white wines available in the stores. You can find some in a Chablis, German varietals, and even expensive wines from California and France.

You can choose a wine depending on your personal taste. There are those in oak or wooden taste or those with robust flavor. White wine comes in a variety of tastes. You can even get ones that are mixed with other fruits such as pears or apples to provide a more refreshing flavor and peppery wines that are developed in rather special soils that give the grapes unique bite.

Since alcohol can impair your capabilities, drinking and exercising is a bad idea. Drink only on your rest days if your weight loss program involves exercise.
