More and more food manufacturers are catering to this diet now that it has gained quite a following. That's why you shouldn't be surprised when you see products like paleo breakfast cereals, paleo cookies, and even paleo granola bars. These often contain honey as honey is permitted on the diet. However, most honey is processed, and strict paleo dieters restrict themselves to raw honey only. But using raw honey is found by many manufacturers to be quite expensive, thus they settle for regular honey instead. Some would even go so far as to say that eating processed honey is tantamount to eating sugar.
In some ways, the paleo diet is a form of the low carb diet. But while low carb diet cuts out honey and dried fruits entirely, the Paleo diet practically seem to revolve around them. These foods should be consumed little by little, if the experts on these diets are to be believed. However, many dieters forget this important warning and consume it in larger quantities than would be good for them. However, this does make the diet a lot easier to stick to and enables a lot more people to take the leap and start the diet. If you haven't tried low carb cereals before, then you should definitely give it a go as you'll find that it's pretty tasty actually!
The paleo diet has evolved to become more of a lifestyle these days. The diet pretty much sums up an entire culture. People are supposed to have to deal with lesser stresses. This is to mimic the life of cavemen who, apart from hunting animals, didn't really suffer from the stresses that plague us daily. They didn't have to deal with overcrowded subways or work befalling you at all hours of the day. The diet also encourages exercise. Instead of heavy and intense workouts, however, they are more on the side of lifting and sprinting.
Cavemen didn't work out in the past, after all, did they? The lifting is to mimic the lifting of boulders. The sprinting or running has to do with how they have to sprint to hunt or run away from predators. Our bodies are supposedly made to perform these types of activities or exercises. Continuous running or jogging is not considered good for our bodies. Aside from causing some inflammation, they could also lead to other complications for some people. Lifting and sprinting won't cause these problems. Those who do not have ready access to a gym will also prefer these exercises. This makes the cheap as well as quick. You can finish doing the paleo exercises within 20 minutes and usually only have to do it twice or three times a week. These exercises are often called crossfit training.
No one knows exactly what paleo foods entail, but the diet is basically built on the premise that humans should stay away from foods that have only come into our diet in recent years. These include food items made from various grains since they are quite toxic to our bodies. As time passes, perhaps the paleo diet will also evolve in a manner that will shed some light on the food that people during the Paleolithic period have been eating.
